Form3, a leading global fintech offering account-to-account payments technology, today announced the launch of its new AI-enabled payments platform that will enable banks and fintechs to leverage AI agents within their payments operations.

This launch marks the evolution of Form3 from cloud-native and API-first to AI agent-ready payments infrastructure, enabling banks and fintechs to adopt AI with clearly defined controls.

Trusted by Tier 1 banks like Barclays, Santander and JP Morgan, as well as leading fintechs Klarna, Mollie and SumUp, Form3 provides a payments platform that serves as a financial fabric, enabling customers to connect to payment rails across North America, the UK and Europe to deliver seamless instant payments.

The new approach will allow authorised AI agents and humans using Natural Language Processing to retrieve and interpret key payment information within an AI interface, helping operations teams to investigate and resolve payment issues, reduce manual workloads, better use their payments data and future-proof their payments infrastructure to keep up with faster, tokenised payments.

As the world of payments continues to evolve and the need for operations to function at greater speed and complexity continues, adoption of agent-ready architecture will help banks and fintechs prepare for a world of continuous payments, digital assets and new forms of money.

The initial phase is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) adaptor for the Form3 platform. MCP provides a standardised way for AI platforms and agents to connect with external tools and data.

The Form3 adaptor will make existing payment information discoverable and usable by authorised AI applications through the API, while simultaneously keeping the AI outside of the payment flow. To ensure ongoing security and resilience, the agent will be read-only, with no ability to initiate changes.

This focus on retrieving and interpreting information rather than initiating payments or making payment decisions has the additional benefit of providing Form3’s customers with a controlled entry point into agentic AI.

Crucially, this new AI layer wraps around Form3 platform’s existing capabilities and is subject to the same data and security controls. The underlying payment itself is still processed through the same secure and resilient infrastructure already trusted by hundreds of leading financial institutions.

Every payment tells a story. Behind it is a person receiving a salary, a business paying a supplier, a family buying a home or someone splitting a dinner bill. Every one of these payments is critical and cannot afford to fail.

We are thrilled to be launching our agent-ready infrastructure that will enable our customers to deliver faster answers and resolution for customers, lower their operational costs and future-proof their payments operations.

Form3 pioneered introduction of cloud platforms to financial services infrastructure, which was the last big technological upgrade within payments. We are proud to remain at the forefront of innovation for this important sector, leveraging our decade of experience in providing financial institutions with trusted, secure and agile technology to turbocharge their services for customers.

AI is set to transform payments operations, giving banking teams faster and more intuitive ways to investigate issues and manage critical payment information.

Our starting point is controlled access rather than unrestricted autonomy, coupled with a read-only approach, which means that agents can view but not change data. This is vital to prevent agents going rogue and initiating payments without permission.

Perhaps most crucially, the security protocols surrounding the AI interface match the enterprise-grade standards of our existing payments platform, which is already trusted by Tier 1 banks across the UK, Europe and the US.

Agents have the power to add value to the payments process and are the logical next step, but a good governance and trust must prevail.
